It starts with two friends from South-West Sydney.
Tracy Trieu and Wendy San are two Asian Australian friends who grew up in South-West Sydney. They currently work as creative professionals in the advertising & design industry. It started with conversations amongst themselves about the lack of diversity and representation in their industries. The stories they shared quickly became a recurring theme, which ultimately led to the birth of ‘A Seat at Our Table’.
BEHIND THE NAME
‘A Seat at Our Table’ is all about creating the space to share underrepresented stories, with the goal to educate, learn and drive change within our communities. The concept of having ‘a seat at the table’ refers to creating equal opportunity for anyone and everyone to speak up, share, define and influence decision making in a safe space. It is also an ode to our family dinner tables, where family and friends come together to nourish and connect.
Meet Tracy
You’ll likely find her by her laugh. Otherwise, you will find Tracy exploring new neighbourhoods, sewing clothes, playing sports or sharing a meal with loved ones.
As an Account Director at whiteGREY. she spends her day job creative problem-solving. With an intention to advocate for diversity & inclusion in all the spaces she’s in, she hopes this podcast will challenge and teach her as she continues to connect with the community.
Meet Wendy
Friends would describe Wendy as a creative, driven, type A individual with a love for homewares, floristry, travelling and a knack for injuring herself one too many times.
As a Lead Product Designer at Future Friendly, she loves crafting up beautiful yet meaningful digital experiences that improve the lives of everyday humans. ‘A Seat at Our Table’ is where she shares her experiences of being an Asian Australian designer, her love of design and how taking a non-traditional career pathway has shaped her outlook on life.
